I became interested in massage therapy when my oldest son was born. He arrived three months early and most of the doctors didn't give us much hope, luckily we were fortunate to find a neonatologist who was a strong believer of the healing powers of human touch. He had a therapist come in a few times a week to work on him while he was in the NICU. His doctor encouraged me to give him massage as well during my visits and had the therapist show me some basic techniques. After seeing the tremendous results from these treatments, I knew massage therapy was something I would love to do. (For the record, That was in 1993, and my son hasn't had a single major medical problem. Growing up he was always one of the youngest and smartest kids in his class, as well as being a very good athlete. He now a nuclear engineer in the US Navy, and also has a degree in Electrical Engineering from UNO. Not bad considering most of the other doctors said he would always be sick and have learning disablities because he was so early.)
I have now been a licensed therapist for many years and still love my career. It makes me feel good to be able to help other people, especially people who live with chronic pain. My passion for massage therapy encourages me to learn as much as i can about massage. I am constantly learning new techniques to incorporate into my sessions. One can never know too much about a particular subject, the more we study the better we become at what we do. I am also an active member of the AMTA and previously served on the AMTA LA Chapter Board for fours years holding various positions from Newsletter Editior / Website Coordinator to First Vice President.
I worked for West Jeff Medical Center inside the fitness center at their Wellness Complex from June of 2002 until June of 2021 when the facility decided to close.
